Has Anyone Changed Their Diet And Felt Better??

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭
Carson City, NV

I went to visit my brother at the beginning of the year. They eat everything organic. While there I did feel a little better. One morning forgot to take my meds and boy did I pay for it. Since I've been home I have been using turmeric to cook with and haven't felt much better at all. Any suggestions on diet?

Organic food that is lowly processed before you buy it. When I stick to it I can eat what I want. Not great for eating out and pot lucks though. It got rid of my fibrofog. When you use turmeric (I don't particularly like it so I put it in capsules) you need to add a small amount of black pepper. It exponently increases the bioavailability of the turmeric.

Look into the Mediterranean way if eating. Start slow when changing your diet. Anything high fiber and reduces simple sugars will make you feel better.

I follow the 1:1 Diet, I’ve lost 7 stone without being able to exercise at all but not compromised my nutrition like calorie counting and keto (unless you really know what you’re doing).. For me, having pre-portioned meals that were calorie counted for me, easy to make (add water and microwave) or simply ready to eat but with all the vitamins and minerals in them has not only helped me shed the weight but feel more independent doing so. I know my husband would gladly cook anything I asked for but I wanted to do this ONE THING for me!

I used Fibro as my motivation to keep me going.. using the logic that I can’t control what my body does but I can control what I put in it has helped me through some testing times!

It’s not cured my Fibromyalgia, I’m not sure any diet will BUT its certainly helped my mobility as I’m using crutches or a stick more than my wheelchair now, I’ve also been able to save myself from falls or feel less guilty if I need a hand up from the floor! I now also take less meds and my mental health and confidence has certainly improved too.. AND, it’s given me a work from home option as now I help others to do the same!

My acupuncturist suggested functional medicine, which includes looking at diet. Not able to afford now. Learned about WHOLE 30. It is a strict plan with many "nos" for only 30 days, cutting out sugar, all grains, dairy, etc. then after the 30 days you add back and see how you feel. Includes protein--not ideally for a vegetarian or vegan. Accidentally, I already learned even a little sugar sets a flare for me. Like trying it so far not all the way through. I've not weighed myself but have had comments that I look like I've lost weight and skin cleaner. Stomach feels flatter.

I for one like the taste of turmeric and put in all kinds of food. I like it best with scrambled eggs with salsa. I guess you have to try it but I no longer take lircia or sevilla and i hurt less sense I started using it. By the way thanks @A MyFibroTeam Member I got the idea to use it from you.
