Legs Ache Really Bad And Are Twitching. Does That Happen To Anyone Else?
@A MyFibroTeam Member Muscle spasms in the legs, and I used to have them in my back, can be caused by not getting enough Magnesium in one's diet. Our food supply, our diets, are very low in this mineral because the soil that grows the crops have been depleted of this essential mineral. Taking magnesium by mouth and soaking my feet or body in Epsom Salts has made all the difference. I rarely get any cramps or muscle spasms anymore since I use oral magnesium and the soaks. If I feel a cramp I will go take a 250 mg MAG. during the day. I usually take 500 mg before bedtime for it will help with the nerves to allow one to rest better. I do not like to be without magnesium now....it is my go to supplement and helps me feel so much better overall. Hope this helps. I agree, Magnesium is a must, especially if you have both. My husband and I are both on it. He has RLS and I have Fibro with mild RLS that comes and goes. He also takes a medication for his called Sinemet. I have a friend that takes Miripex and says it works wonders for hers.
Have you heard of the soap in the sheets theory? My husband and I have tried it and swear it helps. Look up the soap in the sheets for leg cramps. Thousands of people swear by it. Just put a bar of soap (or 2 or 3) in your bed under the sheets near your feet and it helps with the leg cramps. Some soaps work better than others. There are theories, but no one really knows why it works. I will try anything that is that readily cheap and available to help.
I'm gonna buy some and try it! I'd love to go to sleep without having cramps and muscle spasms in my legs! It takes forever to find a comfortable waybto lay some nights!
This sounds like it could be Restless Leg Syndrome which goes along with Fibro. There are treatments, stretches and medications for it. It can affect you during the day and/ or at night, but most of the time gets worse at night.
Yes my legs are the worse. Twitching and throbbing pain.
