Diagnosis
I went to Dr and told him some of my symptoms because they were the worst ones I was dealing with and without any further testing he gave the diagnosis of fibromyalgia. But I have spoken with another person that has fibro and they stated it took months to figure out what was wrong. My question is..... Do you think the Dr jumped to conclusions before any tests were done?
Same here. I was referred from my family doctor to a rheumatologist. She did all of the routine testing for autoimmune disorders as well as cervical and lumbar spine x-rays to rule out any other diagnoses before making the diagnosis of FM. She also did the tender point testing and took a pretty good history from me, which seemed to confirm the diagnosis for her. Wishing you well! :)
Nope they tested for that and it turned up negative
@A MyFibroTeam Member. Sounds terrible. Hope you get answers soon. Your eye problem worries me. Do you have glaucoma?
Thank you so much for your input! I have alot more symptoms but as I said before I was more concerned about the problems at hand instead of listing them all.
YES! That is much too fast to diagnose. You should be worked up for all sorts of things BEFORE getting that diagnosis. A lot of vitamin deficiencies look like FM, but you can't know if you duidn't get any testing done. It is irresponsible for a doctor to give a DX that fast IMHO. My PCP spent MONTHS sending me to specialists and getting all kinds of tests first. Then sent me to a FM clinic at a major hospital, which was where I finally got the DX of FM
