Fibro Meds That Do Not Make You Feel Out Of It Or Put On Weight!

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been prescribed Gabapentim which I tried and did not like how I felt on it and then Pamelor and quit for the same reason after 2 weeks. I am already on Paxil and Wellbutrin for anxiety and depression and do not want to feel further 'out of it' with the Fibro meds. So I just take Aleve or Meloxicam as needed but it honestly only helps a slight bit. I must take Tylenol PM to get any sleep as my restless legs and neck pain keep me up most nights. I fear that being on the Fibro meds will make… read more

Use caution with Aleve also as it can cause tummy issues over time I'm diabetic so I take Lyrica 100mg three times a day. Lots of hot showers followed by ice packs. Having a good chricopator is helpful in my case also. Yes lavender bath salts and I mix in some Epsom salts sometimes too. Also Bath and Body works and probably other places sell a body mist of the lavender too I spray my pillows with it and also melt the lavender in my little melting pot thingy in my room to aid with sleep. Your going to have brain fog it comes with the Fibromyalgia as an added freebie so it's NOT just the meds it's almost impossible to avoid

I take Cymbalta and Tramadol and feel fairly clear headed unless I am over tired. Nothing like the foggy headed feeling I had with both Lyrica and Gabapentin.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I live in Canada where Tramadol is not considered a scheduled drug yet. I'm pretty sure if I really wanted a stronger pain medication my Dr. wouldn't have a problem prescribing it as he knows I don't like taking meds and I have expressed that I don't want to get into using opioids before. Also, I have tried all the so called Fibro meds first and they did not work. Cymbalta has helped a lot with my anxiety and was the easiest antidepressant I have started. I know what you mean about some of them increasing your anxiety, especially in the beginning but I did not have that problem with Cymbalta. I took Cymbalta on it's own for about six months and did not get a foggy head. The only thing I do not like about Cymbalta is that I gained 35 lbs in the first year (then my weight plateaued). It does not do this to everyone, I'm just lucky I guess lol.
