I currently take 50mg a night for my severe depression. It works but am wondering what other fibro patients take. I also would like to start magnesium for pain and dont know how much to start with??

@A MyFibroTeam Member Thank you for that info. Ive read a lot on 5htp. But havent been able to find any real info on long term use for fibro sumptoms. Its wierd because it is one of the supplements that is suggested for FM sufferers. Anyways, Ive been taking it for 3 months now and just upped my dose from 50mg to 100mg. Its helped within days for my depression but that seemed like that was it. Since I upped to 100 I seem to be able to sleep a little better. We will see though, its not even been a week yet. Thanks again :)

serotonin is in anti depressants for fibro a dose less than 50mg helps the normal dose rate is 25 to 30mg per day. Take once a day 4 hours before going to bed with some food it helps to give is ren sleep which we do not get with fibro. Do not drink any tea, coffee or fizzy drinks these contain caffeine which is a pain receptor trigger and makes our pains worse. Magnesium is harmful to your liver if you take too much. Most fibro sufferers lack vitamin B1 and D which is required for muscle strength.

I have not had my levels checked. I requested I had several different things tested and only got vitamin D and B12...irritating! I was already well aware I had an extreme vitamin D deficiency. So I'll wait for the results and request again. But Ive done a lot of reading. Im gonna take 200mg daily and see how that works. From what I understand if you dont need as much as you are taking you will get diarrhea and know to step down. I found a good kind of magnesium at my local healthfood store...it is absorbable. Which I have also heard and read its important to have a kind that your body can absorb. We shall see how it works. The 5HTP I just would like to know what dosage other people take?? I dnt want to take too much because of serotonin syndrome and my Dr knows nothing about it. Ive been taking 50mg for 3 mths and just upped it to 100mg

Did you all get your Mg levels checked before you started taking it? I've heard so much about Mg, but haven't started taking any bc I'm not sure if I'm deficient or not.
