Does Anyone Else Feel Like They Have Been Dumped Into The "Fibro Dumpster"?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I was diagnosed with Fibro about 15 or so years ago. It now seems that no matter what I am feeling bad from, they tell me it's just the Fibromyalgia and switch my meds around. I see a crazy amount of specialists, all give me another batch of prescriptions
I'm in a system where they can see what meds I am taking. I'm terrified of taking all these meds. Right now I believe I am on over 15 different RX meds
This seems to be insane. I've told them I want off of everything except thyroid and… read more

Thank all of you for your responses. I feel better mentally knowing I am not alone. Though I presume this is somewhat the purpose of this group.
I have tried all of the above. I have also gone to one of the "premier" Fibro centers. My doctor was the doctor that started the clinic. This is the one at Ceder Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, CA, considered one of the best hospitals in the nation period. Sadly, right now I am living in Alabama where they arrest you and name you on the radio on the daily crime report if you are caught with one joint. I wish I was exaggerating but I live in a very small town and I am not. Adding all to prayer list as a last resort. It shouldn't be, but it is. If anyone is atheist or something else, it won't hurt you and I don't mean to offend. Best wishes to all :)

Info for everyone: HOW TO GET MORE FROM YOUR DR. VISIT. Many of you know all about this

1. Learn as much as you can about your condition. Write down your symptoms when and how they
affect you.

2. Explain how these symptoms affect you.

3. Answer the dr's questions calmly. Sometimes the questions may be very personal. Be honest.
Sometimes info about other issues is helpful for your current problems.

4. Remain calm during your visit. No no's. Shouting to make your point, talking over dr comments,
interrupting. assuming you know what your dr thinking, jumping in with questions while he is discussing
issues, whining or rolling your eyes.

5. If you didn't understand his explanation, instructions or new drugs ask for further explanation.

6. Always review your meds during your visit and report any problems side effects. NEVER increase,
decrease or stop any medications without discussing with the dr. Some drugs need to be tapered off.

Look for a functional medicine doctor. They look at root causes and work on more holistic sorts of medicine. The Cleveland clinic is the flag ship of the specialty but there are tons of good practitioners around the country.
