Can Fibromyalgia Be Passed Down To Kids?
My husband and I are starting the IVF process and I want to know if I can pass fibromyalgia on to my kids? and if I do become pregnant will my fibromyalgia get worse?
@A MyFibroTeam Member My Dr. says yes as both my sister and myself have it. But I wouldn't allow this to deprive yourself the miracle of life there is always a chance that it may skip.all together. But just so you know what the stats say about it being hereditary. Increasing evidence supports a strong genetic component to fibromyalgia. Siblings, parents, and children of people with fibromyalgia are eight times more likely to have the disorder than those who have no relatives with the health condition. There are several genes that have been suspected to play a role in fibromyalgia syndrome. Studies in twins suggest that half the risk of fibromyalgia and related disorders is genetic and half is environmental. I wish you the best. Hugs
My rheumatologist said it's psychosomatic. I really don't believe that at all.
Time to find another rheumatologist.
I would say yes. My daughter who is 23 already shows signs of having it. Regardless, I would still have had my children. I had my children when I was 28 and 27 and at the time my symptoms were not as bad as now. Actually was the best time of my life. I loved being pregnant and felt good during my two pregnancies. I'm always hopeful that with the way they come up with new ways to treat diseases and symptoms that by the time your kids are old enough they probably will have found a cure or better methods of dealing with the symptoms.
I actually felt better during my pregnancy and was able to work 60 hours a week at 7-9 months along. I usually only work partime and struggling at that.
