Anyone Else 100% Worse After Massage?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I went to the Myotherapist on Friday (it's now Sunday evening) and it was ok while she massaged but immediately after it I just felt *weird*
Then yesterday I could barely move. I slept 3 hours during the day, spent the rest on the couch and then slept another 13 hours last night. I'm a little better today but gosh. $55 to feel like I've been run over by a train. She only massaged my hips and I felt it from my head to my toes afterwards
Has anyone else ever had this happen and what is your… read more

Deep Tissue Massage definitely helps me with tight muscles/spasms but it is not for everyone. Therapists have told me some of their fibro patients can barely be touched. Relief is only temporary for me but ill take it.

I had 1 massage years ago and was in bed for a week. I should have only had 1 area done but had a full body massage. Never again. Some people say it helps them but when you get a massage, they are releasing toxins into our bodies( all the knots that they worked out atlre filled with toxins) so that is why it makes some of us sick. Drink as much water as you can to flush out the toxins that were released. Other tan that just sleep as much as possible and yiu will feel better in a few days. Hugs.

I, too, sometimes feel really sore for about 2 days after a massage. It does help my hips though in the long run. I can lay on my side in bed and not have constant pain if I get a massage about every 3 weeks.

DId you get a deep tissue massage? That would most definitely make me hurt worse. I get a gentle Swedish massage weekly and it really helps me. If I'm hurting a lot, I skip it. It's like waking a sleeping baby to rub tender muscles.

My gal told me I would be pretty sore from toxins that were released, during manipulation, also from the areas next to what she worked on. Told me to drinks lots of water, & rest, if possible.
I was hurting. Stay hydrated. Maybe ask them to be gentler next time. Hope this helps
