Anyone Had To Stop Opioids?
I just read in the Washington Post today that the Human Rights Watch is seeking testimonials from patients whose doctors have forced them or strongly encouraged them to stop taking opioid meds. If this has happened to you and you live in the US look up Human rights Watch and tell them your story. This is about the rights of patients to obtain needed legal medication.
The scientific research is this: of people in chronic pain, only 1 in 10 people will likely become addicted to the opioids they are prescribed. -Scientific American
Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and no doubt many people's lives have been destroyed by opioids. I wish there were an alternative pain killer. Sometimes I think the big pharma companies are holding out. Because if we can do some of the amazing technological things we can do, the companies can develop better less addicting pain killers.
My own experience: I was prescribed a small dose of hydrocodone to take at bedtime years ago. When I moved to a new area to take care of my Mom, the new clinic wouldn't prescribe it to me as I was a new patient. So I had to go off of it. No withdrawal pangs, nothing. The only thing that happened was that after a short while my pain level increased. And in time, my quality of life was not as good as it used to be. It would be 8 maths before I was able to be prescribed hydrocodone again. It makes such a difference for me.
I agree with what you said. However, I have been going to a pain clinic that has been keeping my pain controlled for the most part. I go every two months and a drug test is part of the office visit. The government needs to help real drug addicts and give people in chronic pain a break.
I feel all your pain and frustration because I'm in the same boat. I never asked for a life of pain but it's what God gave to me so I need to learn how to deal with it the best way I know how, and that was through my medication. Taking it away and calling me an addict was so wrong, abusive in my opinion, especially when the doctor, a person we're supposed to trust, got me hooked and kept increasing my dosage over the years. My heart goes out to all of you! I feel your pain.
I tried to post a comment on the Washington Post but it wouldn't let me. Stated they weren't taking anymore comments at this time. That made me mad because I have a voice that needs to be heard!
Human rights watch wants to hear from you if you have been forced to quit opioid. . HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH
@A MyFibroTeam Member Sweetheart the reason they give you a drug test is one to make sure you have the med's in your system , to make sure you are not selling them and 2 because they want to make sure you do not have other drugs in your system ! And when the DR acts like i am lying about my pain or thanks i am on drugs i love to give them a urine test ! i had one Dr say that i had just put water in the cup ! oh i went off on him !!!!!!! so he did a dip test to make sure it had urine in it ! Needless to say , i did put a grievance out on him ! smooches pooches
