Sibo
Anyone gave sibo? I have been following the todmap diet but im still having stomach issues. Any remedy or supplement u take fod it many thanks
Yes, my top gastro has given me every test known to gastros after my two trips to India resulted in ibs , then later when my ascending colon and gall bladder were removed the same day . I failed the breath test at two different times in my life and once had to take the antibiotics twice also . It can reoccur so you might want to be retested .
I also had H. pylori bacteria which are asymptomatic so make SURE you are tested for them . They cause ulcers and stomach cancer because they burrow so deeply . The research on them was done by doctors from Virginia researching in Australia and won a nobel prize because we used to think all ulcers were caused by stress . Ask your doctor for the test .
Thousands of people are walking around unaware . ( they are VERY UGLY looking too . Google them!)
The gastro finally handed me a copy of the fodmap eating plan . He keeps a stack of them printed ready to hand out!
@A MyFibroTeam Member, fodnmap is not an elimination diet. You do leave out certain things they are calling fodmaps. I suggested she do and elimination diet to go a step further.
Try finding out what you are having trouble with by an elimination diet. You take out all food that causes issues and allow your stomach to heal. Then you add things back in one by one to see how it affects you. You can get a reaction up to 72 hours after you eat it. A good book to help you with this is The Autoimmune Solution by Amy Myers MD. It has made a huge difference to how I feel.
Many patients are misled into thinking that eliminating these foods from their diet is an appropriate long-term solution to their gastrointestinal issues as they experience a reduction in their symptoms. However, elimination is only phase one of the four phases of a low-FODMAP diet and adherence to the following phases is essential for long-term health outcomes. High-FODMAP foods make up a substantial proportion of a normal healthy diet and therefore should not be eliminated from the diet for a period of time greater than six weeks.
The subsequent phases of a low-FODMAP diet include the reintroduction phase, the trial-diet phase and the maintenance phase. Consulting with your naturopath throughout the process of a low FODMAP diet is fundamental to ensuring this diet is correctly implemented with minimal adverse effects and positive long-term health outcomes.
Furthermore, following a low-FODMAP diet may assist in the symptomatic relief of gastrointestinal symptoms but does not address the underlying cause of gastrointestinal issues.
Hjberry thanks you for the rundown❤️ ive been doing the fodmap diet for about 5 months now and was instructed to keep doing it until my hydrogen breath test shows that the bad bacteria has gotten under control.. does this sound weird to you? I also took antibiotic for sibo , xifaxan and i was feeling relief from fibro symtoms as well. I know my journey for sibo isnt over yet, went in for my hydrogen test earlier this month and waiting for my results, hoping that its getting under control. My doctor said i most likely will have to take another course of antibiotics... which im not too excied about because when i took my last course of antibiotics i had horrible herx reaction, vertigo nausea . Did you ever have an experience like this? Big hugs
