How many of you are taking benzodiazepines? Which one, how long, and how does it affect you?

Hi go to a psych. Dr or psych nurse..then tell them what's happening...they will help you..don't go cold turkey..if you have to go to the emergency room for psych..then go..tell them. You have abruptly stopped your med....much best wishes. To you keep me posted...withdrawal cold turkey. Is dangerous

JodyA, where do you live? I’m here in the south US, and I guess the legislation has changed regarding Benzos. I was given lorazepam for a month, which I broke in pieces to get me through. But after two months of doing that, I think I may be in withdrawl, and no one will prescribe me more. Having some of the weirdest things happening.

Hi..( I have been on low dose klonapin for almost 2 years.the dissolving kind- mixed in my med cocktail..it is calming it stops anxiety and panic attacks and for me my spasms and tremors).I have been on .025 klonapin once. In the morning and once at night, the dissolving kind..the regular kind 2 years ago made me anorexic ,and unable to do stuff...but I went to the psych impatient dept. at our world class hospital Here and got a great psych Dr😌 she gave me a meds cocktail.( this particular one is often used for people with fibro).that eventually worked like a charm ...mostly..not 100 percent but better...I take zoloft, gabapentin klonapin and baclofen..because they really mess my stomach up terribly I take 40 mg of omeprazole daily...I was a wreck before all the meds😞 I have essental tremor ..a boyfriend gave me herpes 2 ( the herpes virus can give you fibromyalgia)pets died 2 guys dumped me my mom died I was a licensed massage therapist had many herniated discs carpel tunnel..chronic sacroilliac joint pain etc ..and I had tremors all over my body ( I have essental tremor)with energy jolts..I went to various neurologists that where not finding the meds for me..after 3 months I went to impatient got the meds. That where right for me..the side effects calmed..now I'm alot better then I was but I'm disabled...benzos are great..they calm you the klonapin calmed me pretty instantly...I do not do as needed...I take just twice a day .always about the same time .and I keep it low dose same dose for 2 years i never increase.( some doctors wanted to increase)but low dose was working great .same with all my other meds...benzos are highly needed by the body once you start ..you cannot just stop..if your Dr and you decide to get you off the Benzo you must titrate down very slowly under the doctors care..and you must be very careful to not mix with opoids and alcohol....because you could stop breathing...klonapin acts fast when you ingest it for me right away..and I tolerate only the dissolving kind klonapin is a Benzo with a long half life I think over 30 hours...so it stays in your system for a long time...I did not want to need it long-term..but it works for me and all my doctors say if it works leave it alone do not change it..I'm sure others on this site are on klonapin and other benzos..are you on a Benzo? Are you scared of them?
