Suddenly Feeling Hot...
Hi everyone ππβ£οΈ Has anyone ever just been sitting watching TV or whatever and suddenly feel extremely warm, even a bit sweaty when it's like 36 degrees outside?π° My palms even got sweaty then stomach pain then TMJ pain then goes mysteriously away!!! It's happened before nurse said anxiety but I wasn't feeling anxious just fatigued. It's Not menopause. Just wondering if anyone else has had extreme heat feeling... thank you, Merry Christmas and may we All have blessed healthy New Year π. β£οΈL
I'm cold and turn the heat up and dress in warmer clothes. Next, I'm burning up! Makes no sense to me. Maybe it is from some of medication.
Fibro exaggerates our reaction to heat and cold and sometimes you can feel both at once. Your warm and break out in a heavy sweat then while sweating the evaporation gives you chills. You have to undress, dry off, and put on dry clothes. And it appears to be random because another day the same temperature has no effect.
I have a terrible time with heavy sweating all year round. My hair / scalp literally get wet and I can blow dry my hair at times. Body also sweats profusely. Usually if doing housework, going for my walks, also can be just sitting watching tv and I will start sweating. Do so at night also.
Dr's cannot figure out why I am like this.
I believe it could be a broken thermostat in my body, i.e pituitary gland may have issues, but so far they haven't found anything.
You are not going through change of life, so perhaps have dr's check for your pituitary gland is functioning properly.
Good luck and if you find out anything would love to hear what it could be and how they control it.
Wishing you and yours a Very Merry and Blessed Christmas.
All the Best for 2022.
It's to do with the hypothalamus.Β
What Causes Temperature SensitivityΒ
Body temperature is regulated by the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus is a section of the brain responsible for hormone production. It is considered the link between the nervous system and the endocrine system.
The hypothalamus not only controls body temperature. It controls energy levels, the sleep cycle, muscular function, circulation, the gut and defense against infection.
Most fibromyalgia symptoms seem to be due to imbalances in the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA axis). These three glands work together to control hormone levels. Disruptions in the HPA axis seem to be at the core of fibromyalgia.
Thyroid hormones also play a role in regulating body temperature. An overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) can cause a person to feel too hot, while an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) can cause a person to feel too cold.
The thyroid gland is under the control of the pituitary gland. The pituitary gland itself is regulated by the hypothalamus. Anything that disrupts the HPA axis will also suppress thyroid function.
I have the same issue. I think it is part of the central nervous system dysfunction; the body temperature control is out of whack. We can't regulate body temperature so well and need to keep putting on and taking off clothes. It's worse if you're in a cold house, as you are having to keep the house at a certain temperature and also your body. If the house temp drops, so does the body temp.. I spent 11 years in that state. Luckily I'm now in a warm house and it's much easier to manage, no need to wear so many clothes.
