Itching

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been wondering if anyone else inch and you don't know why. I didn't know if it was due to fibro. I can't get over this and will think I am allergic to something. I have tried stopping certain things and see if that is it. I would still itch. Hope I get some help.

Hi, basically this is from my own experience that I know about chlorine. I would swim in a chlorinated pool and at first feel good from the exercise, later my condition would plummet. Also i would itch. These days i can smell the chlorine in my bath water ( I used to work in swimming pools!) and it goes into the air too. Dr. Mercola writes about how important it is to filter our bath water because we take in these chemicals through our skin, which is our lárgest organ. I actually havent taken this step, but i try to spend little time in contact with this water. I open the window to let air in the bathroom to, as to breathe less of this chlorine gas too, which is released into the air.

I think if you googled "Dr. Mercola, chlorinated water" you could read more about this problem.

Hello, I saw your question and I had to share my experience. I do agree with post below on using moisturizer. But I found gluten (Wheat) was my culprit! I had a test for Celiac's which was negative thankfully. So I guess I have a sensitivity. I would strongly suggest reading up on it. You could do a Google search. Of course be careful what you read is from a credible source! I have been GF for 3 years now. It is hard to cut it out of the diet, very torturous at times! But many more Gf items are appearing in stores. I would run it by your doctor. Many foods that are GF (cereals, breads) will lack vitamins and minerals. So for me it was recommended I take a multivitamin. Of course I am not a doctor. But I know the terrible itching stopped for me. And I lost some weight by going GF. Hope this is helpful to someone!

Yes! Gluten free is very important!! :-). Next is pesticide free! Organic. Next if still suspecting foods and can't figure it out, have a Nutrapathic Dr. Test for sensitivities. Then eliminate. Other possibilities the chlorine in public water can cause this, especially if one sits in a bathtub. Also chemical cleaners used to clean the bathtub can do the same. I disagree about using the kinds of lotions mentioned. They have toxic chemicals that the biggest organ of our body absorbs. Try something natural....organic Shea butter works for me and lasts along time. Other ideas...coconut oil...anyhow something natural.

I think dry skin is a fibro symptom. Try this. After your shower, leave your skin dampish. Don't dry completely. Use a very heavy moisturizer (I like Pond's or Jergens in the jar) and rub it in well. Have your hubby or partner do your back. Good luck.
