Support Groups

New Jersey, NJ

Does anyone actually physically go to a support group in their area? I live in New Jersey and am looking for one and was wondering if actually sitting around and talking in person helps as well?

I'm not involved in a local support group, but have been thinking about it. Right now I'm looking for a good therapist to help me cope with accepting the limitations in life with having fibromyalgia. I could see where support groups may help with that.

I was lucky enough to have a nurse to come to my home to help me with pacing myself throughout the day ie in cleaning getting dressed, preparing a meal and help with other day to day thing's, i was a fool to myself i would get up in the morning and have a coffee then start cleaning i would spend about 2 hours without stopping then spend 2 days in bed unable to even walk or do anything for myself, i now listen to my body and it tells me when i have done enough for today , i also have other illnesses that does not help with my fibro. im under the drs at Rheumatology that is were my visits to support groups started. I wish you every success in finding a support group i am sure you will enjoy them, take care much love xxx

I used to when I lived in Marion VA and when I lived in Hopewell, VA. Of course it helps because for that hr or two you are with people who know what you go through on a daily basis. Just like on here there is know Judgement or saying well you don't look sick. I really enjoyed my support groups.
