Does Anyone Suffer With Nails That Ridge And Break?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭
Plymouth, UK

For quite a while some of my nails have been ridged; I can feel lines over them. But more recently, they have become brittle and have started to split. Luckily not down too far the nail, but enough to be a nuisance. I just wondered if anyone else has had this or has any idea about it. Thanks x

It may sound silly but my mother also suffers with the same problem with her nails and she has started rubbing lip balm on them after someone told her it works and she swears her nails are better ..I think i will give it a go

Wow! How many of us suffer with this, I too get it on my toenails. Thank you all so much for answering, I'm just sorry it's such a common complaint. I shall be looking into this a bit further and will let you know if I find anything useful xx

Forever and I never knew it was due to fibromyalgia until after I was diagnosed last year and researched all of the symptoms. I don't even bother trying to make my nails look really nice anymore.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I too have ridges on my nails. I use a black file to file them smooth and then use a white file to buff and finish with a gray file to shine. I do not have trouble with brittleness. Mine are very strong and hard. Also I have naturally white nails when grown out. Mine grow very well. I have trouble with my cuticles. And the skin on the sides. Always dry and difficult to maintain.
