Weight Loss Surgery

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone had weight loss surgery and had it help their Fibro symptoms? I had the sleeve done 5 years ago, and even though i lost 60 pounds - I still have 100 to go and am thinking of "upgrading" to he bypass. Whenever I go to a Dr they keep saying my pain won't be as bad if I lose more weight, but I'm in too much pain at the moment to exercise. Thanks in advance, and gentle hugs!

I have a lap band since 2007. Lost 90lbs and had to have dr move the band cause it kept getting hung up on a rib. Since he moved it , it hasnt worked as well. between that and the meds i have gained 70lbs of it back. And yes, exercise is almost totally out of the question. I have lost 6lbs in the past month only do to the fact i have a gall bladder issue and had to change my diet radically. But I still get full easily, food gets stuck if not chewed enough or eat too fast, still cant have carbonated drinks, which is good. and red meat does not go down. My husband says I eat like a canary but still the weight goes nowhere. If we order out, my order will last for 3 meals. I just deal with one day at a time

I have had fibro for over 20 years and I have researched this condition and I also have a great primary Dr. Never have I read or has it been suggested to me to loose weight to help this condition. This condition deals with the deep nerves in our body that mis fire and flare up with sometimes everyday activity you never know how your days are going to be until your feet hit the floor when you are getting out of bed. Light exercise on good days, abd rest on your bad days. I find that massage helps me, and you need to find a masseuse that has studied fibro. I hope this helps, I know some days it seems like nothing will help.
