Worse Symptoms Or Flare?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone else feel like their symptoms come more frequently over time? Like it's worse over time and more active. My doctor tells me fibromyalgia doesn't get worse it's simply a flare up.

Unfortunately Doctors are absolutely wrong Fibromyalgia symptoms do get worse over time.

Things that I could do I cannot anymore and you have to be more careful of not overdoing things like Housework which can suddenly cause an ongoing flare. For a couple of weeks.

Absolutely it's progressive. It seems the individual parts of myself that really hurt move around too. 10 years ago, I was generally achey all over. Then, in addition, my hands started aching for like a year. Then my back. Now it's in my arms. I love it when doctors tell us how our illness feels...wowsers!!! We know 'cause it's ours to experience.

Mine improved after about 20-25 years. I had a really good spell for about another 8-10 years and actually told someone that I felt like it was gone. However, my migraines increased during that time. Then I went gluten free and all muscle-related pain disappeared! My damaged joints from all the car accidents continued hurting and migraines continued, but fibro pain was gone for three years or so. Dummy me, started slipping up and letting gluten back in and pain started up, then we remodeled our kitchen and had to eat out every meal for two months and I have been in flare up ever since. That's why I keep saying diet is the key. If I knocked this back once, I surely can do it again!!!

That I don’t lnow.. it seems remission is rare. It may be nothing they have done to go into remission. It’s like, we have some days more tolerable than others., so I’m not aware of anything they did or didn’t do. You can research remission for Fibro, but I just dont know if that would help any. Change of diet for some.. supplements.. excercise.. everyone is different with different bodies and symptoms. What works for one, doesn’t for another. There’s no one method that works for all. You have to get to know your own body and become your own advocate. This site helps so much for info because everyone knows how it feels to live with Fibro.
